Staithes Festival of Arts and Heritage

Emma has been a regular at the Staithes Festival of Arts and Heritage for the last four years – her contributions have included the famous red and blue lobsters (the blue version was bought by the North York Moors National Park authority, and now stands at the top of the hill in Staithes), a family of elephants which proved popular with the national press, and, last year, a glorious larger-than-life polar bear.

Made from stripped and woven white willow around a central steel armature, the bear was installed overlooking Staithes Harbour just before last September’s festival and was there until recently, testament to just how weather-resistant and hardy her sculptures are.

Emma is already planning her contribution to this year’s festival – watch this space! And for more information on the festival, which this year takes place on 7 and 8 September, take a look here: www.staithesfestival.com
